This depends what you like. There are relatively new ice hockey teams who have never done anything significant. In this category, I would put the Utah no-names, Seattle Kraken, Minnesota Wild, and Columbus Blue Jackets. If you're interested in getting in on the ground floor of something, any of those four teams will be the best bets.
On the other hand, if you're interested in joining a blue blood of the game, teams with great histories of winning championships, any of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins, Montreal Canadiens, Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings, Pittsburgh Penguins, or Tampa Bay Lightning are good choices.
If you plan to stay a fan of a team for the remainder of your life, I don't think the state of the team right now is very important, but there are some teams you can jump on that look like they have a chance to win their first championship soon (Winnipeg Jets, Vancouver Canucks, Utah Utahs).
I've provided a lot of options here. Can this be a vote for all of them? Also, I think an underrated method for choosing a favourite team is looking through the jerseys leaguewide and spotting a colour scheme you like. It's more fun to watch a good looking team on TV!
BTW, the world needs more New York Islander fans. Just saying.
Thanks for the advice! The teams you named will count as a vote. Currently, I would say I am more of a supporter of the LA Kings, Toronto Maple Leafs, and New York Rangers.
I'm from Los Angeles so that kind of made me a Kings fan, the Maple Leafs, well, I've always loved their team. Auston Matthews is one of my favorite players of all time, and he never disappoints in fantasy hockey. Rangers? I don't really know if I'm being completely honest, I guess it's their color scheme.
I understand, but I'm done with being a Kings fan. I want to be different as everyone I know supports the Kings. Maple Leafs are known for being a historically great franchise, (well, in playoffs they sell every year) so I want to go through the period where your team struggles and you stick with them until they win the Stanley Cup.
LOL. I would really recommend one of the new teams then. New York Islanders are also really struggling right now (is this good marketing?), so you can join me over on the pain train if you'd like...
Boston Bruins!
TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS!!!!!!
Ya!

Might I ask why? That seems like an eclectic mix. I'd like to hear the story behind that.

Why are you soliciting recommendations if you already have a roster? The Kings are leading their division right now. You can stick right there LOL.

Sigh.
